Additional Massage Services
Remedial Massage
Remedial massage differs from a relaxation massage in that it specifically focuses on the root cause of musculoskeletal pain or discomfort. An in-depth consultation, posture analysis and MSK tests allow the treatment to be more targeted and effective. After your treatment, self-care stretching and movement therapy advice will be given.
Remedial massage uses techniques such as trigger point therapy, myofacial release, muscle energy techniques, neuromuscular techniques and specific stretching alongside traditional massage techniques to help treat acute and chronic pain symptoms associated with conditions such as:
- Low back pain
- Sciatica
- Repetitive strain injuries
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Migraines/headaches
- Reduced range of motion problems
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy Massage is a deeply relaxing and restorative treatment involving a combination of techniques such as Swedish, Deep Tissue and Lymphatic Drainage as well as gentle stretching and breathing. It is tailored entirely to your needs and stage of pregnancy.
Massage during pregnancy can help with reducing anxiety and back pain, improving mood and sleep, lowering urinary stress hormones and lead to calmer, and less intervened birth experiences.
This Federation of Antenatal Educators (FEDANT) accredited Pregnancy Massage treatment is safe at any stage during pregnancy and is carried out with the client in a side-lying position, supported by bolsters and cushions.
Many mums-to-be find this position extremely relaxing and often drift off to sleep!
Swedish (Relaxation) Massage
A therapeutic massage aiming to promote relaxation, reduce stress and relieve tension.
A lighter pressure is used to gently soothe tired muscles and bring about more balance in your emotional and physical wellbeing.
C-Section Scar Massage Therapy
Around 30% of births in the UK are by caesarean section. This major surgery can cause many uncomfortable symptoms in the first two years as the scar tissue heals, and other concerns can develop in very mature scars. This specialised, advanced massage therapy, uses gentle techniques to treat the scar tissue and abdominal area to help reduce feelings of tightness, discomfort and pain, reduce adhesions and increase mobility in the scar tissue. Many clients also notice an improvement in the appearance of their scar, although this is not the main focus of the treatment.
Treatments usually last 60 – 75 minutes and self-care massage and product advice to promote scar healing at home will also be provided. Clients will gain the most benefit from a course of 4-6 treatments however, many clients also experience a noticeable reduction in symptoms from just one or two treatments. C-section massage therapy is beneficial to anyone with a c-section scar, no matter how long ago the surgery.
